Modern Classics: The Ghost Chair
Happy holidays from Casa Jarvis! It's uncharacteristically warm in Tennessee (60 degrees on Christmas Eve-Eve), but I am stubbornly insistent on building a fire, donning wool socks, and listening to old school Christmas classics on repeat.
This is the first Christmas in my first home - I undoubtedly got a bit ahead of myself and decorated 3 trees. Which, in my defense, I acknowledge is... psychotic. I have had a fantasy in my head of what my home would look like for as long as I can remember and have been hoarding furniture (and Christmas decorations) for years (thank you to everyone who stored my shit).
It's daunting - this first home, furniture buying thing.
I want my home to feel timeless and elegant while maintaining relevance and remaining comfortable to my family. Is that too much to ask? Making your home look like a page out of Architectural Digest on a first-job-out-of-college budget is tricky and tiring.
Every purchase feels monuments.
I know I'm late to the party, but I just ordered a pair of ghost chairs and I'm certain they'll live up to my preposterously high expectations. They pair so perfectly with a heavy wooden table, an ornate mirror, or a beautifully wallpapered wall. Is there anything more fresh and modern than taking a centuries-old design and recreating it in crystal clear plastic? I think not.
